hemorrhagic fevers

hemorrhagic fevers
a diverse group of severe epidemic viral infections, found in many parts of the world, mainly in tropical climates. Causative viruses are often geographically restricted, and they are usually transmitted to humans by arthropod bites or contact with virus-infected rodents. All the infections share certain features, such as fever, hemorrhagic manifestations, thrombocytopenia, shock, and neurologic disturbances. The group comprises Argentine hemorrhagic fever, Bolivian hemorrhagic fever, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, hemorrhagic dengue, Ebola virus disease, epidemic hemorrhagic fever, Kyasanur Forest disease, Lassa fever, Marburg virus disease, Omsk hemorrhagic fever, and yellow fever.
