Argentine hemorrhagic fever
Argentinian hemorrhagic fever a hemorrhagic fever primarily affecting agricultural workers in northern Argentina, caused by the Junin virus and transmitted by contact with the excreta of infected rodents, especially Calomys musculinus. Characteristics include high fever, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, generalized myalgia, hemorrhagic manifestations, exanthema, renal involvement, neurologic disturbances, and shock. Called also Junin f.
