idiopathic generalized epilepsies
a group of epilepsies characterized by generalized seizures but no irregularities on the electroencephalogram; these are genetically determined and are not idiopathic in the usual sense of the word. Included are several types of absence epilepsy as well as juvenile myoclonic epilepsy.
