autonomic dysreflexia

autonomic dysreflexia
a syndrome affecting persons with lesions of the spinal cord above the midthoracic level, characterized by paroxysmal hypertension, bradycardia, excessive sweating, facial flushing, nasal congestion, pilomotor responses, and headache. It is due to an exaggerated autonomic response to such stimuli as distention of the bladder or rectum.
