- dUTP pyrophosphatase
- dUTP py·ro·phos·pha·tase (pi-ro-fosґfə-tās) [EC 3.6.1.23] an enzyme of the hydrolase class that catalyzes the cleavage of dUTP to form dUMP and pyrophosphate. It thus both reduces dUTP levels and also provides dUMP as a substrate dTTP biosynthesis, decreasing the intracellular concentration dUPT and so preventing incorporation of uracil into DNA; it is critical for the fidelity of DNA replication and repair. In official nomenclature, the preferred name is now dUTP diphosphatase.
