high-ceiling diuretics
loop diuretics agents that inhibit the reabsorption of sodium and water in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle. They promote a high level of diuresis and their effect is not altered by acid-base imbalances or hypoalbuminemia. Used in the treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure, acute pulmonary edema, or hepatic or renal disease and, alone or in combination with other drugs, in the treatment of hypertension.
