dar·be·poi·e·tin al·fa (dahr″be-poiґə-tin alґfə) a protein closely related to erythropoietin, having similar erythropoiesis-stimulating activity; used for treatment of anemia associated with renal failure or certain types of cancer. Administered by intravenous or subcutaneous injection.
