cy·to·sine de·am·i·nase (siґto-sēn de-amґĭ-nās) [EC 3.5.4.1] an enzyme of the hydrolase class that catalyzes the deamination of cytosine to form uracil, a step in the degradation of pyrimidine nucleotides.
