maximal expiratory flow–volume curve

maximal expiratory flow–volume curve
a curve generated during forced exhalation from total lung capacity to residual volume by plotting maximal expiratory flow against the corresponding lung volumes; it can also be constructed from a series of isovolume pressure-flow curves at different vital capacities. See illustration.

Series of isovolume pressure-flow curves (A), from which can be constructed a maximal expiratory flow-volume curve (B).
