an·odon·tia (an″o-donґshə) [an-1 + odont- + -ia] congenital absence of the teeth; it may involve all (total a.) or only some of the teeth (partial a., hypodontia), and both the deciduous and the permanent dentition, or only teeth of the permanent dentition. See also Kennedy classification and Skinner classification, under classification. Called also anodontism and edentia.
