antidromic conduction

antidromic conduction
the conduction of a nerve impulse in a direction contrary to the normal direction, as occurs in experimental conduction studies. It may occur naturally in some neurons of the dorsal roots of the spinal cord, although evidence suggests that the phenomenon may actually result from ephaptic transmission rather than backward transmission.
