- an autosomal dominant disorder caused by mutation in the TRPM7 gene (locus: 15q21), which encodes a protein that functions as an ion channel and a kinase; it occurs among the Chamorro population of Guam and is characterized by gradually progressing parkinsonism associated with progressive dementia and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
