compaction
com·pac·tion (kəm-pakґshən) 1. a complication of labor in twin births in which there is simultaneous full engagement of the leading fetal poles of both twins, so that the lesser pelvis is filled and further descent is prevented. Cf. interlocking. 2. in embryology, the process during which blastomeres change their shape and align themselves tightly against each other to form a compact ball of cells (the morula).
