columna anterior medullae spinalis
[TA] anterior column of spinal cord: the anterior portion of the gray substance of the spinal cord (see columnae griseae medullae spinalis); it contains neurons that innervate the skeletal muscles of the neck, trunk, and limbs. In transverse section it is seen as a horn (cornu anterius medullae spinalis). Called also ventral column of spinal cord.
