am·e·lo·blast (amґə-lo-blast″) [amelo- + -blast1] a cylindrical epithelial cell in the innermost layer of the enamel organ which takes part in the elaboration of the enamel prism. The ameloblasts cover the dental papilla. Called also adamantoblast, ganoblast, and enameloblast.
