hematoxylin body

hematoxylin body
a dense, homogeneous, cyanophilous particle consisting of the denatured nuclear material of an injured cell together with a small amount of cytoplasm, occurring in systemic lupus erythematosus; lymphocytes that ingest such particles are known as LE cells. Called also LE b.
