altretamine

altretamine
al·tret·amine (al-tretґə-mēn) [USP] an antineoplastic agent used in the palliative treatment of ovarian carcinoma; administered orally. Although structurally related to certain alkylating agents, it does not appear to act similarly; its activity is related to the degree to which it is demethylated by the hepatic microsomal enzyme system, but the exact mechanism is unknown. Called also hexamethylmelamine.
