- alat·ro·flox·a·cin mes·y·late (ə-lat″ro-flokґsə-sin) a fluoronaphthyridone antibacterial related to the fluoroquinolones, effective against a broad spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative organisms, used in the treatment of infections due to susceptible organisms. Alatrofloxacin is the prodrug of trovafloxacin; following intravenous infusion, it is rapidly converted to the active drug.
