- N-ac·yl·neu·ra·min·ate cy·ti·dyl·yl·trans·fer·ase (a″səl-n-ramґĭ-nāt si″tĭ-dil″əl-transґfər-ās) [EC 2.7.7.43] an enzyme of the transferase class that catalyzes the transfer of a cytidylyl group from CTP to a sialic acid to form the corresponding CMP-sialic acid, a nucleotide sugar compound that donates sialic acid residues in the biosynthesis of gangliosides.
