acne tropicalis a type of severe acne vulgaris seen in hot and moist environments such as tropical climates; characteristics include large painful cysts, nodules, and pustules with formation of conglobate abscesses and frequent scarring, usually on the back, nape of the neck, buttocks, thighs, and upper arms.
