meningitis C vaccine
a vaccine that provides protection against the C strain of the bacterium Neisseria meningitidis (the meningococcus), which accounts for approximately 50% of all cases of meningococcal meningitis and tends to occur in clusters. The immunization is given at present to all babies with their primary immunizations at two, three, and four months. It can also be given as a single vaccine and is currently offered to everyone under the age of 24.
