etacrynic acid

etacrynic acid
a loop diuretic used to treat fluid retention (oedema), such as that associated with heart failure and kidney and liver disorders. It is administered by injection. Common side-effects are loss of appetite, difficulty in swallowing, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea. Trade name: Edecrin.
