py·reth·rin (pi-rethґrin) either of two esters, pyrethrin I and pyrethrin II, found in the flowers of certain species of Chrysanthemum, used alone or in combination with piperonyl butoxide as an insecticide and topical pediculicide. See also pyrethrum extract, under extract.
