occlusal disharmony n a condition in which incorrect positioning of one or more teeth causes an abnormal increase in or change of direction of the force applied to one or more teeth when the upper and lower teeth are occluded

a condition in which (a) contacts of opposing occlusal surfaces of teeth are not in harmony with other tooth contacts and with the anatomic and physiologic control of the mandible, or (b) occlusions do not coincide with their respective jaw relations.
