Feulgen reaction n the development of a brilliant purple color by DNA in a microscopic preparation stained with a modified Schiff's reagent

a method of demonstrating the presence of DNA in cell nuclei. The tissue section under investigation is first hydrolysed with dilute hydrochloric acid and then treated with Schiff's reagent. A purple coloration develops in the presence of DNA.
