Z-plasty
Technique to elongate a contracted scar or to rotate tension 90°; the middle line of a Z-shaped incision is made along the line of greatest tension or contraction, and triangular flaps are raised on opposite sides of the two ends and transposed.

Z-plas·ty 'zē-.plas-tē n, pl -ties a surgical procedure for the repair of constricted scar tissue in which a Z-shaped incision is made in the skin and the two resulting flaps are interposed

Z-plas·ty (zeґplas″te) a type of skin flap procedure used for relaxation of contracted scar tissue; a Z-shaped incision is made with its middle bar over the contracted scar, and the triangular flaps are rotated so that their apices cross the line of contraction. Called also Z-flap.
