py·e·mia (pi-eґme-ə) [py- + -emia] a general septicemia in which secondary foci of suppuration occur and multiple abscesses are formed. The condition is marked by fever, chills, sweating, jaundice, and abscesses in various parts of the body. Called also metastatic infection. pyemic adj
