Sensing of electrical or magnetic signals, which normally should not be sensed by a pacemaker, but result in inappropriate inhibition of the pacemaker's output.

over·sens·ing (oґvər-sens″ing) inappropriate sensing of electrical signals by an artificial cardiac pacemaker, either extracardiac signals or cardiac signals other than those it is set to detect; in demand pacemakers the result is slowed or irregular pacemaker output.
