Inflammation of the brain by extension of the process from the middle ear and mastoid cells. SYN: otocerebritis. [oto- + G. enkephalos, brain, + -itis, inflammation]

oto·en·ceph·a·li·tis (o″to-ən-sef″ə-liґtis) [oto- + encephalitis] inflammation of the brain due to an extension from an inflamed middle ear. See also otitis media.
