Orthoptera
A large order of hemimetabolous insects that includes the locusts, grasshoppers, mantids, walking sticks, and related forms. [ortho- + G. pteron, a wing]

Or·thop·tera (or-thopґtər-ə) [ortho- + Gr. pteron wing] an order of biting insects that do not undergo metamorphosis; they include the grasshoppers, locusts, crickets, and cockroaches.
