cytomegalovirus ventriculoencephalitis
a late-appearing type of cytomegalovirus encephalitis seen in immunocompromised patients, characterized by high protein levels and pleocytosis of the cerebrospinal fluid, encephalitis, cranial nerve deficits, ventriculomegaly with necrotizing ventriculitis, and sometimes ascending muscle weakness with nystagmus.
