Trypanosoma lewisi

Trypanosoma lewisi
a stercorarian species found in the blood of rats, usually nonpathogenic in adults but sometimes causing lethal infection in nursing babies. It is transmitted by the rat flea, Nosopsyllus fasciatus. This species is much used in laboratory research.
