the paths of the blood within the chambers of the heart. In the left flow tract, oxygenated blood from the pulmonary circulation enters the left atrium through the pulmonary veins, flows through the mitral valve into the left ventricle, and passes out through the aortic valve into the aorta and systemic circulation. In the right flow tract, deoxygenated blood from the systemic circulation enters the right atrium through the venae cavae, flows through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle, and passes through the pulmonary valve and on into the pulmonary artery and the pulmonary circulation.
