- solitary rectal ulcer syndrome
- prolapse or internal intussusception of the rectal mucosa with a single ulcer on the anterior aspect 4 to 12 cm from the anal verge, accompanied by constipation and hematochezia; the condition may sometimes be confused with malignancy, infection, or Crohn disease. It is most common in persons 20 to 40 years old who have a history of straining at evacuation.
