overtraining syndrome

overtraining syndrome
a group of symptoms seen in athletes who train beyond the body's ability to adapt; there is inability to sustain intense exercise, generalized fatigue, and sometimes mood or sleep disturbances that may last for weeks after the training has stopped or decreased. In some persons a contributing factor is hormonal imbalance caused by the physical stress.
