succinyl coenzyme A
suc·ci·nyl co·en·zyme A (suk″sĭ-nəl-ko-enґzīm) the succinate monothioester of coenzyme A, a high energy intermediate formed in the tricarboxylic acid cycle (q.v.). It is also a precursor in the synthesis of porphyrins.
