Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Paratyphi C
a group C serovar that is the most frequent cause of paratyphoid fever in parts of Asia, Africa, and northeastern Europe, and causes other serious diseases in northern South America. Formerly called S. hirschfeldii and S. paratyphi C.
