St. John's wort
(sānt jonz wort) [NF] any of various species of the genus Hypericum; H. perforatum is the medicinal herb, which is used as a mild antidepressant, sedative, and anxiolytic; it is also used topically for inflammation of the skin, contusions, myalgia, and first-degree burns.
