Rhi·zo·mas·tig·i·da (ri″zo-mas-tijґĭ-də) [rhizo- + Gr. mastix whip] in former systems of classification, an order of zooflagellates characterized by the presence of one to many flagella and pseudopodia occurring simultaneously or at different times in the trophozoite.
