resistin

resistin
re·sis·tin (re-zisґtin) a 114 amino acid adipocytokine that has been implicated in the development of insulin resistance; it has been suggested that it may be the link between obesity and insulin resistance, but its role remains unclear. It has also been found in the synovial fluid of patients with inflammatory joint disease.
