- [TA] spherical recess of vestibule: a circular depressed area in the anteroinferior portion of the medial wall of the vestibule of the internal ear. It is pierced by 12 to 15 small foramina through which nerves come from the internal acoustic meatus to the saccule, which occupies the depression. Called also r. saccularis vestibuli [TA alternative].
