strain-gauge plethysmography
a technique for recording changes in limb circumference employing a rubber tube filled with a conductive fluid; as the tube expands and contracts, the resistance in the fluid changes in proportion to the circumference of the limb; used in the evaluation of deep venous thrombosis and chronic venous insufficiency.
