preejection period

preejection period
(PEP) the interval between the onset of ventricular depolarization and the onset of ventricular ejection; it is one of the systolic time intervals (q.v.) used in assessing left ventricular performance and is calculated by subtracting the left ventricular ejection time from the electromechanical systole.
