purulent pericarditis

purulent pericarditis
pericardial inflammation characterized by pus formation, usually due to bacterial infection, and less often to fungal or viral infection, which may be spread from neighboring tissues, through the blood or lymphatic systems, or via direct implantation in wounds. It is characterized by fibrinopurulent or purulent exudates and often results in constrictive pericarditis and tamponade.
