interference pattern

interference pattern
electrical activity in a muscle recorded during maximal voluntary contraction; since a large number of activated motor units are firing asynchronously, some or all of their action potentials overlap (interfere with each other on the recording) and cannot be measured separately. Cf. full interference p., reduced interference p., and discrete activity.
