- 5-oxo·pro·li·nase (ATP-hy·dro·lyz·ing) (ok″so-proґlĭ-nās hiґdro-li-zing) [EC 3.5.2.9] an enzyme of the hydrolase class that catalyzes the ATP-dependent linearization of 5-oxoproline to form glutamate; the reaction is a part of the mechanism of transport of amino acids into tissue cells by the γ-glutamyl cycle.
