leishmaniasis recidivans
a relapsing form of cutaneous leishmaniasis that resembles tuberculosis of the skin and may last for many years. Either the ulcer heals incompletely, scarring centrally but spreading peripherally, or it heals and recurs at the edge of the scar. It is usually caused by Leishmania tropica in the Old World and L. braziliensis in the New World.
