- ki·ne·to·des·ma (kĭ-ne″to-desґmə) pl. kinetodesmaґta [kineto- + Gr. desmos band, ligament] one of a bundle of fine, striated fibrils, each of which arises close to the base of a basal body and runs anteriorly parallel to and just beneath the surface of certain ciliate protozoa; the kinetodesmata serve to connect the basal bodies in longitudinal rows. Called also kinetodesmos.
