color flow Doppler imaging
- color flow Doppler imaging
- a method for visualizing direction and velocity of movement, as of blood flow within the cardiac chambers or blood vessels: color-coded flow direction and velocity information gathered by Doppler ultrasonography at multiple sites across the imaging field are superimposed onto a black and white cross-sectional image. Direction and velocity are coded as colors and shades, respectively, and used to produce color maps depicting blood flow.
Color flow Doppler imaging (right) confirms turbulent flow across the stenotic area in tetralogy of Fallot; subcostal view (left) shows both valvular pulmonic and infundibular stenosis. AO, aorta; PA, pulmonary artery; RA, right atrium; RV, right ventricle.
