familial hyperalphalipoproteinemia
an autosomal dominant condition characterized by elevation of high-density–lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), resulting from any of several mutations that affect HDL metabolism. It is frequently associated with longevity and decreased risk of myocardial infarction but is sometimes associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis.
